REVIEW
Recipes are simple and heart-healthy. Includes guidelines for a heart healthy lifestyle. No precooking, just prep and put in slow cooker. Nutrition facts are included. Contents are broken down by Staples, Breakfast, Beans & Grains, Soups, Stews, and Curries, Meatless Mains, Poultry Mains, Beef, Pork, and Lamb, Sides, Desserts. I’m a picky eater and not a fan of beans, spicy foods, few vegetables I will eat, and can’t eat pork but I did find a few recipes that interested me. Nice size book, clear directions, easy to read.

Biography
I’m Nicole Morrissey, a Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), and the creator of the blog Prevention RD. Since a very young age, I’ve battled my weight. Dieting and weight loss have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and likely always will be. Today, I focus on health, balance, and overall wellness rather than always a number on the scale…and I’ve never been happier. My blog is dedicated to preventing illness and disease through healthy eating in otherwise healthy people. However, my recipes are loved by children, diabetics, busy parents, and sodium-conscious individuals alike. My goal is to create food that is balanced, plentiful, and satisfying. I am a self-taught home cook who loves to prepare every day recipes in a lightened up fashion. In fact, I never spent much time in the kitchen prior to 2009 when I got married and started my blog. Today, both nutrition and recipe development are staples in my life. Showing others that eating well can truly be delicious and require no sacrifice on their part is truly rewarding. In my free time, I enjoy running, playing ice hockey and tennis, and lounging on the beach. Originally from Chicago, I now live in southwest Michigan with my husband, Mark, our two daughters, Shea and Piper, and our English bulldogs, Lily and Harlie. My favorite foods are avocado, king crab, and English toffee.
