They’d always said Gabriella Giovanni was her mother’s daughter … In this Gabriella Giovanni Mystery prequel novella, we see why. Maria was no saint. From the time she came out of her mother’s womb, red-faced and kicking, she knew what she wanted and rarely let anything stand in her way. Now, on the brink of adulthood, there was only one thing Maria wanted. Or rather, only one person she wanted: Vincenzo Santangelo. The most exciting and dangerous boy she’d ever met. But everything and everyone stood in her way: The Saint was the only boy in town her father had deemed off limits. And he was her boyfriend’s best friend.

REVIEW by John Kurtze

THE SAINT by Kristi Belcamino is a prequel giving her readers a snapshot of Gabriella Giovanni’s parents.  As is noted in all five of Kristi’s books, Gabriella gains her strength and courage and commitment to never give up from her Giovanni DNA.   As a young woman, Maria Gabriella’s mother deals with sadness, frightening experiences, and the loss of love and life.  Maria cherishes the bond she has with her friends and finds strength and hope in her role as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Kristi shares with her readers’, Maria’s strength in dealing with family difficulties,  family secrets, and great happiness.  Readers learn more of why Gabriella reminds herself she is a survivor. We follow Maria as she deals creates an example of the Giovanni survival instinct.

It was great to learn about Maria. It explains where Gabriella gets her strength, courage, zest for life and backbone from.  Kristi’s prequel shows why Maria is an unforgettable.
