“Why do we only know the reason for the storms after the damage has been cleaned up? We wait and beg to God for mercy, only to realize He was in the center of it all.”

A quick read (91 pages). The author started writing her truths as poems, as she experienced the many emotions of living with and surviving preeclampsia and depression. There’s anger as she is going through the fight and hasn’t given up, there’s hope and faith, fear, guilt, dark days, and magical days.  She writes with emotion as she fights through preeclampsia, two births, and depression. Through her writings, you sense her faith in Christ was and is her daily lifeline. You can tell this was healing for the author and I’m sure others will benefit from reading. Good job!

A Question

 “Are you happy?”

I hear the question,

soft and steady.

It lands like an anvil at my feet.

 “Are you happy?”

I’m asked again.

The answer doesn’t come and

I wonder after all the

façade, and back and forth lies,

did I take a wrong turn somewhere?

 Or was my inner prisoner shouting

and in her screams,

she is finally heard

 

 

About the Author:
Leila Tualla is a Filipino American writer, poet, and Christian author. She is a preeclampsia survivor and advocate, and blogs about “life after preeclampsia,” at http://www.tuallaleila.blogspot.com. After her second baby, Leila had postpartum depression. She is thankful that her family and those who supported her, stood with her and helped pull her out of her darkness. Her faith in Christ was, and continues to be, her daily lifeline. Leila is humbled daily by God’s saving grace.
