Who cares if the people of Marietta call Cal Casey the forgotten one? Cal’s proud of his wildly successful brothers—as long as they stay out of his way. He has a ranch to run and a wife to acquire. Preferably one who doesn’t remind him of the woman who’d married his best friend.

But Red Evans is three years dead this Christmas and his widow needs all the ranch help she can get. By providing it, Cal is honoring Red’s memory, serving the valley he loves, and being a decent godfather to Red’s son. Nothing more. His brothers are wrong.

Surgical nurse Beth Evans is hanging onto her late husband’s ranch by a thread, her ten-year-old son is skipping school to mend fences, and she owes steadfast cowboy Cal yet another big apology. The last time she messed up this badly, she’d blamed him for breathing!

It’s not Cal’s fault Beth’s long-buried feelings for him are rising again. Or maybe it’s all his fault. All she knows is that hot tempers, mistletoe kisses, and her plans to sell up and leave the valley before Christmas aren’t helping.

REVIEW

I really enjoyed this quick read. Cal is a wonderful lead character; he’s a large man with a gentle heart, dependable, and reliable. Beth is struggling to hold onto her ranch, raise her young son, and work at the hospital. They both had buried feelings for each other. I enjoyed their journey to their Happily Ever After. Recommend.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

auth_KellyHunter-500x500Accidentally educated in the sciences, Kelly Hunter didn’t think to start writing romances until she was surrounded by the jungles of Malaysia for a year and didn’t have anything to read. Eventually she decided that writing romance suited her far better than throwing sterile screw-worm flies out of airplane windows, and changed careers. Kelly now lives in Australia, surrounded by lush farmland and family, 2 dogs, 3 miniature cows, a miniature pig, a 3-legged cat and a small flock of curious chickens. There are still flies, but their maggots don’t feed on flesh. Bargain. Kelly is a USA Today bestselling author, a three-time Romance Writers of America RITA finalist and loves writing to the short contemporary romance form.
